Uses
The hardware and software I use for my digital life.
Hardware
I strive for a very clean and minimal setup. Since 2019, I've had my work laptop hanging under my standing desk acting as a shelf for my personal machine and nothing but a lamp and coaster joining my keyboard and mouse on my desk.
Home
- M1 Mac Mini for my daily computer.
- Framework Desktop for Linux and gaming.
- Studio Display for a display.
- Fully Jarvis standing desk for holding things.
- Herman Miller Aeron for sitting.
- Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for input.
Travel
- M2 MacBook Air for a computer.
- iPad Air for a bonus display.
Everywhere
- iPhone 15 Pro Max for pictures and texting mostly.
- Apple Watch Series 10 for fitness and "hands-free" notifications.
- Bose QC Ultra or AirPods 4 for audio, depending on the need.
Software
macOS
Most of my time is either spent in the browser or terminal. If it can't run in either of those, then I'm probably not interested. The fun parts are in my shell configuration.
- Homebrew for utilities.
- Kitty for a terminal.
- mise for a version manager.
- neovim with tmux for text editing.
- NetNewsWire to curate my own news.
- Obsidian for notes, with iCloud backup.
- Safari for browsing, with 1Blocker and Private Relay.
- LM Studio for local AI models.
- Hammerspoon for window management and more.
- Passwords for all things secret.
Linux
- Arch Linux as my OS.
- Hyprland as my Wayland compositor.
- Lumen for installation and management, including Steam for gaming.
iOS
- Bluesky to pretend to be social.
- You Need A Budget for finance tracking.
- Everything else I could live without but will occasionally provide help.
